The SuperCDMS Ombudsperson created an internal Ombuds page that sets forth the Collaboration's expectations for professional interactions and the options for reporting and resolving actions that might violate the SuperCDMS Collaboration's expectations as specified in the SuperCDMS Code of Conduct.
Ombuds/Safe Person Process
SuperCDMS has appointed an Ombudsperson and Safe People to serve as non-threatening options to help members of the collaboration navigate a difficult situation. Any one of us can serve as a confidential sounding board to offer support, help individual members understand a situation, know their rights and options, and address concerns about retaining privacy, retaliation protection, and preventing a situation from worsening.
Individual members control if and when there is any further action beyond confidential conversation; we help members understand the possible outcomes and implications. If a member should choose to pursue action, the course of events would follow those laid out in the SuperCDMS Code of Conduct.
The SuperCDMS Collaboration believes that an inclusive and professional environment is a requirement for any scientific community. Collegial interactions are expected at all times, and people must be treated with respect regardless of seniority, sex, sexual orientation and/or gender identity, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality, ethnicity, and religion. Similarly, all members of the collaboration are expected to adhere to the highest ethical standards of scientific conduct by respecting the work of others, using collaboration resources responsibly, and treating scientific data and results in accordance with the policies in the Governance and Approvals Document.
All of us are negatively impacted when a collaboration member does not adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Ombuds page describes the process by which any Collaboration member can bring forward an allegation of misconduct and contains a list of Safe People with whom an aggrieved person can consult without ramifications.
